Meetings are usually the first Thursday of the month, 6:30 PM at the The Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2 Airport Dr. Worcester, MA Map HERE
A non-profit 501(c)(3) club.
We were the first woodturning club in New England and have existed since 1987.
We welcome everyone interested in woodturning regardless of
experience. Beginners to the very experienced, we have it all.
You can benefit from a vast knowledge of every aspect of
woodturning including bowls, plates, vases, spindles, pens,
segmented, stave, green wood, carving, texturing, and much more.
Members are always sharing experience in a desire to help other
A foremost benefit of our club is in fact our willingness and
openness in the sharing of ideas and techniques through
socializing, demos, show & tell’s, field trips, shop visits,
articles, and more. Recent demos were; pepper grinders, green
wood turning, deep hollow vessels, specialized tools, spirals,
segmented turnings, and much more awesome and unbelievable
A great benefit is our “Learn N Turn”
Learn-N-Turn is a wood turning learning experience for the beginner or intermediate wood turner sponsored by CNEW. It happens at the beginning of each monthly meeting beginning at about 5:00 pm. and ending at 6:30 pm. Each Learn N Turn session is led by an experienced wood turner who provides the wood, tools and any other accessories to complete a small project during the time provided. The projects will be done on the two club mini-lathes. CNEW will make an attempt to list the projects and leaders for the calendar year in the Newsletter and Website. Some examples include awls, pens, coffee scoops, wine stoppers, small bowls, etc Your LNT Director: Richard G Hunt
This year CNEW will join two other area clubs,
ART and MSSW, in presenting the best of woodturning at that tree and wood mecca, the Arnold Arboretum starting at 5pm October 21 through October 23, 2016.
Join us in celebrating this centuries old craft that we all love. Some of the turnings will be from wood donated by the Arboretum from trees they had to cull or recovered from environmental damage. There will be a reception from 5-7pm on Friday and demonstrations Saturday and Sunday at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
The event is free and no registration is required.
When inclement weather strikes and a meeting is in question
of being held - we'll follow the Worcester School system
decision found online at
If school is closed - we will not hold a meeting.
